Post Code Doesn’t Matter
A WIFT Australia Regional Initiative
WIFT Australia is proud to launch Post Code Doesn’t Matter – a national initiative supporting female and gender-diverse screen creatives living and working in regional, rural, and remote areas across Australia.
Led by WIFT QLD, Post Code Doesn’t Matter is designed to dismantle the geographic barriers that too often limit access to the screen industry. Through in-person workshops, screenings, and community engagement, this initiative brings industry knowledge and opportunity directly to regional creatives — proving that postcode should never define potential.
About the Initiative
Post Code Doesn’t Matter was inspired by the production of Not Russian Anywhere, a Screen Australia and Screen Queensland supported digital comedy series created entirely across multiple postcodes during COVID lockdowns. The series is a flagship case study for what’s possible when remote creatives are empowered to tell their stories — no matter where they live.
Each stop on the Post Code Doesn’t Matter tour features:
A free in-person screen industry workshop, open to all levels
A public screening of a regional success story, followed by a live Q&A
Connection to practical tools, funding info, and pathways into screen careers

Why It Matters
This initiative is about more than visibility — it’s about equity. It’s about ensuring that creative talent isn’t left behind simply because of geography. It’s also a tribute to the late Liz Tomkins, WIFT QLD Chair and passionate regional advocate, whose commitment to access and inclusion continues to shape this work.
