WIFT Australia x MIFF 37º South Producer Delegation

Program Purpose

To support emerging women and gender-diverse filmmakers to develop the skills, confidence, networks and industry knowledge required to engage effectively with domestic and international screen markets.

Through participation in MIFF 37˚ South activities, mentorship, networking opportunities and market preparation training, participants will gain practical insight into project positioning, relationship-building and market engagement.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is aimed at:

  • Emerging filmmakers

  • Early-career filmmakers transitioning from shorts to features

  • Filmmakers with projects in development

  • Producers building their first market strategy

  • Filmmakers seeking industry connections and mentorship

Applicants should have one or more of the following::

  • A feature in development

  • A documentary project in development

  • A television project in development

  • A slate of projects

  • A filmmaking career they are actively building

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a current WIFT Australia member with a minimum of 3 months remaining on your membership (you will need to renew if not).

  • Identify as a woman or gender-diverse screen practitioner

  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or resident for tax purposes

  • Have some sort of industry experience in film, television or digital content

  • Be available to attend all program activities

  • Be available to travel to Melbourne during MIFF 37˚ South

What Participants Receive

This opportunity includes:

  • Attendance at Friday night networking drinks with a WIFT Mentor to introduce you to some key local and international guests

  • Attendance at MIFF 37˚ South State of Play Sessions (not the market itself) 

  • Attendance at the WIFT Australia panel:
    The Second Feature Cliff: Why Women Disappear Between Film One and Film Two

  • 3 mentoring sessions with a WIFT Australia mentor - 2 before and 1 after the event so we can learn a little more about you and your project

  • Return flights to Melbourne 

  • 3 nights accommodation in Melbourne

  • A complimentary ticket to attend one MIFF Film *
