WIFT AUSTRALIA LAUNCHES GROUNDBREAKING REGIONAL SCREEN INITIATIVE

Women in Film and Television Australia is proud to announce the launch of POST CODE DOESN’T MATTER – a bold new initiative designed to break down the geographic barriers faced by regionally based female and gender diverse filmmakers across Australia.

This national program will deliver a series of workshops, screenings, panel discussions, and networking events to ensure aspiring and emerging creatives can access industry opportunities regardless of where they live.

POST CODE DOESN’T MATTER is one of several flagship initiatives delivered by WIFT Australia in alignment with its mission to educate, empower, and support women and gender diverse practitioners in the screen industry.

The program is inspired by WIFT Australia’s Annisa Belonogoff’s experience producing the Screen Australia and Screen Queensland supported web series across multiple time zones and post codes during the COVID-19 lockdown.

“As someone who grew up in regional Queensland, I know how isolating it can feel when the industry seems centred somewhere else. Not Russian Anywhere provided that your location doesn’t need to limit your voice being heard,” said Belonogoff.

The inaugural event for POST CODE DOESN’T MATTER will take place in Winton, Queensland as part of the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival:
